Performing Arts
Tucked away in the backstreets of St Ives, the theatre has been home to performances, youth productions, and community magic for decades. But despite all that character, they didn’t have a brand identity to match. That’s where we came in – to help shape something totally new, that felt rooted in place but built for the future.
We began with a visit, soaking up the history, nosing around backstage, and letting the space speak for itself. The architecture offered plenty of inspiration (including a striking ceiling medallion that would later find its way into the brand mark), and it quickly became clear that the new identity needed to honour the building’s heritage while dialling up the energy and creativity that flows through the theatre today.
Medallion Mark
From there, we explored two creative routes, both drawn from the fabric of the venue. The route we landed on was expressive, characterful and full of movement: practical day to day, but designed to pack a punch. The logo mark, based on that ceiling detail, can stand alone or sit with the wordmark, and a custom exclamation point gives the identity a playful flex when it’s needed. We also defined four key brand pillars – conservation, creativity, community and café, to help guide the storytelling.
Colour Palette
To bring it all to life, we created a full brand book including values, tone of voice, templates, signage concepts, and usage examples across posters, programmes and more. A brand-new website is also in the works, designed to feel as welcoming and vibrant as the theatre itself.
A full-circle project, from backstage wanderings to a bold new identity.
