Behind the Screens: Hub Box Pentewan

We’ve been working with Hub Box since the very beginning, back when it was a single shipping container in Truro. Since then, we’ve watched it grow into a much-loved collection of restaurants across the South West, evolving alongside the brand every step of the way.

So when Hub Box Pentewan celebrated its tenth birthday last summer, we were more than happy to get involved.

The brief was refreshingly simple: create a limited-edition tee inspired by the phrase Best Buns on the Beach.

From there, we headed down the rabbit hole.

We started by pulling together mood boards inspired by Pentewan itself. Sun-faded signage. Vintage surf graphics. Seaside souvenirs. Sandy afternoons that somehow turn into evenings without anyone noticing. The kind of references that feel nostalgic without trying too hard.

Somewhere between retro surf culture and minimalist grunge, the direction started to reveal itself.

The illustration began life as a pencil sketch before being refined digitally, keeping the slightly imperfect lines that give it character. Bold banners, playful typography and a few hidden burger details all found their way into the final artwork, creating something that felt unmistakably Hub Box while celebrating a decade at the beach.

Projects like this are always a reminder that the best merchandise doesn’t just stick a logo on a T-shirt.

It tells a story.

And after ten years of burgers, beach days and brilliant memories, Hub Box Pentewan had plenty worth celebrating.
